Edition#3 - spaces a music release of a new kind and a virtual sound art gallery project.
Accurately re-creating a sound installation created in Brønshøj Vandtårn, an old water tower in Denmark which has a very specific reverberation (up to 35 seconds at 40 Hz), the 10-loudspeaker system brings the audience into a soft fall, a place where time and decay are one and only. The original technique used here for the surround system has been developed through an artistic research project funded by the Danish Ministry of Culture, and has allowed the sound art duo Edition# (Runar Magnusson & Yann Coppier) to create a new type of spaces, which can be developed in virtual reality as well as in the real-world - meaning all you can hear in here also will function with real loudspeaker. Therefore allowing the re-creation of the full tower, for instance, in any other acoustic space... Outside?
Upstairs is another temporary installation featuring 51 loudspeakers, which allows the wanderer to listen to a spectral part of the surrounding sea. Created with the help of Xavier Descarpentries.
The gallery is an evolving piece meant to increase constantly in size and content: other spaces will emerge and other artists will get invited to expose their creations in the newly generated spaces.
